Kununurra weekend photos, finally…

Hi all, I have finally posted some of the photos from my Kununurra weekend prior to my Exmouth week. If I do say so myself, there are some great pics there!

Here’s a sample:

I’ve added a favourites gallery, but you can also look at all of the photos here.

Again, please let me know what you think, either as a comment here, in the guestbook on Zenfolio or as a comment on the photos. Photographers really crave feedback, you know!

My first book

Hi there, well, I’ve been intending to dabble in the world of self-publishing for a while now but just haven’t managed to pull the trigger.

However, this all changed with the results of my week in Exmouth where I, in my very humble opinion, took some of the best photographs in my career. So, I have bit the bullet, selected a vendor (Momento) and have uploaded the final version.

I am waiting for some print samples to arrive and, once they have, I will order a 297mm x 297mm coffee table book, complete with dust cover. Woohoo!

Here’s a link to a preview

Can’t wait… Here’s a link to my favourites from the week.

Busy, busy, busy…

Well, it’s been a busy time since my last post here. I’m really not sure how many are reading this (the stats aren’t encouraging), so I don’t really update this blog that often, so make sure you let me know if you’re reading!

I spent last week on holiday in Exmouth – wow, what an amazing place! Thanks to some amazing hosts, Bruce and Vale, we saw heaps and I have some of the best photographs of my carreer.

Here, I hope, is a link to the gallery. There are too many favourites to show any here, but here’s one:

Emma Gorge & The Kimberley Moon

Well, I spent Sunday in Emma Gorge at El Questro near Kununurra and it was amazing. Here’s a pic of the waterfall at the end of the gorge:

The swim at the end was amazing, damed cold, but worth it:

As per usual, go to my Zenfolio site for more pics here.

Also, there are some photos from the concert called ‘The Kimberley Moon’ in Kununurra on the Saturday, here.

… and Vimeo for some video from Emma Gorge and of the Kimberley Moon here.

ANZAC Day 2009

Well, as per usual, I got up early (04:15) this morning for my annual Dawn Service attendance.

This year, I got there a bit earlier than usual, so that we could get a better viewing of proceedings.  To see the usual “best of” photo’s, please go to the Zenfolio site via this link, but here are some of my favourites:

Bungle Bungles video…

I’ve joined Vimeo Plus now, so I can upload more HD video from the Canon 5D MK II.  Here’s another from the recent weekend in Kununurra.

It’s from the flight over the Bungle Bungles:

Work, work, work…

Hi all, well, it’s been pretty hectic of late, just reached a milestone at work, so here’s a little video to celebrate:

What’s that got to do with me?  Well, I managed the design and installation of all of the communications equipment that facilitated the whole thing :-)

Lot’s more photo’s from the day on the ZenFolio site.

Happy Easter to all!

A fantastic weekend…

Well, I have returned from a week on site and a fantastic weekend in Kununurra. Why was it so good? Well, good company (work colleagues), good food and excellent photographic opportunities.

As usual, I am uploading the best photo’s to Zenfolio, the parent gallery is here. Head on over and have a look!

Here are the absolute best, in my opinion, from each day – and it’s damned hard to choose just one a day!

“Small Eared Wallaby, Lake Argyle”

“The Bungle Bungles”

“Ivanhoe Crossing”

HBF Freeway Bike Ride

Well, I woke up this morning, was about to head out for a walk and heard on the radio “… the soutbound lanes of the Mitchell Freeway are still closed due to the Freeway Bike Ride …”, so I quickly changed my plans (one of the advantages of being single!) and headed for the Hutton Street overpass.

Yes, I did take the new tripod with me and I am glad I did.  Here’s one pic:

The rest are on my Zenfolio site, here .

I’ll add some video shortly, it takes a LONG time to upload 140mb to Vimeo and I haven’t worked out editing properly yet!

Buying stuff

Well, in preparation for my trip to Kununurra next weekend, I went out and bought a (I hope) decent tripod and head combination from PRA Imaging this morning. Also added an 8GB memory card – don’t want to run out of memory during the scenic flight, do we??

This is what I got:

New Tripod

Hope it turns out to be worth it, I couldn’t justify the $1000+ for the ducks nuts Gitzo, with the twist lock legs. Maybe next time!
